The first Benjamin Bailey Award instituted by the Madhya Kerala diocese of the Church of South India will be presented to Arch Corepiscopo Kurian Kaniyamparambil of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church. He was selected for the award for translating the Holy Bible from the ancient Pshithi Syriac text into Malayalam. Kerala Sahithya Akademi chairman Perumbadavam Sreedharan will present the award at a public function on Saturday. The finction is being organised as part of the double centenary celebrations of the arrival of Church Mission Society missionaries in the State. Finance Minister K.M. Mani will inaugurate the function.
