The CPI(M) has bought land in prime locations in the name of various trusts, he says.
Thrissur: Janata Dal leader M.P. Veerendrakumar has accused the CPI(M) of promoting land mafia in the name of development.
He was speaking after inaugurating the district meet of the Janata Dal here on Saturday.
“The CPI(M) has bought land in prime locations in the name of various trusts. Those who once advocated land reforms are now amassing wealth.”
Criticising the acquisition of land for the proposed four-lane road to the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) Industrial Park at Kinaloor, he alleged that the move was to help land mafia, which has acquired many acres of land in the area.
Commenting about the Vigilance investigation against former Minister for Public Works P.J. Joseph, he said: “When Joseph was in the Left Democratic Front he was an angel. He became corrupt as soon as he left the Front.”
Janata Dal leader M.A. Paulose presided over the function. State secretary K. Krishnankutty delivered the keynote address. Janata Dal senior vice-president Varghese George, district secretary S.J. Vazhappilly and others spoke.
