: Communist Party of India (CPI) volunteers will picket village offices across the State on January 22 as part of an agitation against price rise and dismantling of social security schemes.
A press note issued by the party here said national and State-level leaders would address the volunteers at various locations.
Local-level campaigns to mobilise public opinion for the agitation would conclude on Sunday.
The press note said the decontrol of diesel price and the train passenger fare hike would lead to a rise in prices of essential commodities. By raising bus ticket fares, power tariff and milk price, the State government was adding to the burden on the common man.
It said the failure to disburse pension and assistance under welfare schemes had worsened the situation.
