The Kerala High Court, on Friday, reserved its order on a petition challenging the selection of Malayalam film Manjadikkuru directed by Anjali Menon for the Kerala State Film Awards, 2012.

In their petition, film producers Saji Nanthiyattu and Raju Malliath said Manjadikkuru had been censored in 2007. Therefore, the film could not have been considered for the awards for 2012. Films censored during the calendar year of 2012 only should have been allowed entry.

Meanwhile, the State government informed the court that the film had been censored only in 2012. Therefore, there was no illegality in considering the film for the awards.

In fact, Manjadikuru was a revised version of the film Manjadikuru released in 2007. It had won awards in 2008 as well, the petitioners said.
