Kochi: The Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court has directed the owner of Sea Emperor, a Georgia-based vessel, to appear in the court on January 6 in connection with payment of arrears. The cargo ship, loaded with 5,000 tonnes of sulphur, had arrived at the Cochin Port in December. It had 22 crewmembers, of which 21 belonged to Yugoslavia and one from Ukraine. The ship was owned by W.W.Ship Management Ltd. The ship had been detained at the port on the orders of the Bombay High Court, on a petition filed by the Cypress-based Island Oil Ltd., complaining that $ 1,20,087 were due to it for supplying oil to the ship.
