The district administration will convene a meeting soon to solve the waste management problems in Lalur, the corporation's waste disposal site, Collector P. M. Francis has said.
Mr. Francis took charge as Collector on October 24. He was addressing a meet-the-press programme at the Thrissur Press Club on Thursday.
Representatives of the corporation, officials, and the Lalur Malineekarana Virudha Samithi will take part in the meeting.
Mr. Francis said that he would take the initiative to streamline the maintenance of land records.
“Most of the civil court cases are related to land disputes. Hence, proper maintenance of land records is important,” he said.
The district administration promised to make distribution of sand to the public more effective.
“Steps will be taken to set up a crematorium in each panchayat. The crematoriums that are in a bad shape will be renovated. Fallow land farming will be promoted. Efforts are on to speed up relocation of the Thrissur zoo to Puthur. The feasibility of developing an outer-ring road in Thrissur town will be assessed,” he said.
He said that schemes being conceived and implemented should reflect the vision, values and goals for developing Thrissur in the next 25 years.
