Budding writers among students from the region can sharpen their tools and get ready.
The 20th edition of the DC Books’ International Book Fair is offering them an opportunity to test their skills.
The fair to be held at Arayidathupalam Junction in the city from November 29 to December 11 is throwing up literary competitions for school students in a variety of events, including poetry writing, short-story writing, and book cover designing.
Besides these, competitions will also be held in drawing, painting, and recitation (in Malayalam and English) for students from kindergarten to Class XI.
Application forms for the competitions will be available at DC Books outlets. A maximum of five students can participate in an event from a school.
Participants should register their names before November 29 and report at the venue well before time.

The book fair and cultural festival will be inaugurated by writer and Jnanpith laureate M.T. Vasudevan Nair at 5.30 p.m. on Friday.
Writer and columnist T.J.S. George, poet Kalpatta Narayanan and M.K. Raghavan, MP, among others will speak at the function.
Besides Malayalam and Hindi publishers, prominent international publishers, including Penguin Books, Random House, Harper Collins, Orient Paperbacks, Sage, Cambridge University Press and Wiley, will participate in the fair.
More than 10 lakh books in different languages and genres will be on display at the fair, said its organisers at a press meet here.
They will cover a variety of disciplines such as arts, literature, medicine, engineering, culture, philosophy, biography, cookery, health, children’s literature, and popular science.
The 13-day fair will be a blend of literary and cultural events. Lectures, discussions, book releases, and stage performance will also be held on all days of the festival, they said.
