KOCHI: A State convention of representatives of various communities such as Vadhyayar, Eezhavathi, Kavuthiyya and Komaram will be convened by the Vadhyayar Mahasabha in Kochi on May 1. Revenue Minister K. P. Rajendran will inaugurate the meet. Opposition leader Oommen Chandy will inaugurate welfare schemes being launched by the Sabha. General Secretary of the Sabha, R.S. Ajith Kumar, said various problems were faced by the closely associated communities. The communities were identified by different names. He said more than 800 students belonging to these communities had faced problems in respect of admissions to educational institutions due to the non-issuance of certificates to prove their caste. Such issues would be discussed at the meet, he said. — Staff Reporter
