PALAKKAD: A reception committee for the Kalpathy music and car festival was constituted on Saturday. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan is its chief patron.
District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) Chairman and District Collector K.S. Srinivas is the chairman of the organising committee and P.N. Subbaraman, the general convenor.
The DTPC meeting held here recently, presided over by Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, decided to increase the number of days of the classical music festival from six to 10 days from this year. The music festival will be held from November 4 to 13. The car festival will be held from November 14 to 16.
Various competitions and seminars on classical music will also be held as part of the festival. The Minister for Home and Tourism had said in the Assembly on September 19, 2007 that the festival would be made a national-level event.
