A few hours after a student of the Nattakom Government College was attacked by unidentified persons, the house of a teacher of the college was attacked late on Wednesday.

According to the police, the house of Benno Joseph, head of the geology department in the college, which was under construction in Pallom came under attack. According to eye-witnesses, a gang arrived in six motorcycles and broke into the house. They later damaged 12 windows, a cupboard and several tiles that had been kept for the construction. It is believed that the miscreants removed the fuse from a nearby electric post before entering the compound.

The police on Thursday registered cases against 10 persons in connection with the case. An investigation led by Chingavanam sub-inspector Nirmal Bose has been launched.

Meanwhile, activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) waylaid the MC Road in protest against the delay in nabbing those responsible for the attack on P.S. Sreejith, an SFI activist and third year student. CPI(M) district committee member V. Jayaprakash inaugurated the demonstration. SFI district president B. Mahesh Chandran, district secretary M.A. Ribinsha, and State committee members Jake C. Thomas and Alex Punnoose spoke on the occasion.
