Land acquisition for construction of six roads reviewed

District Collector K.V. Mohankumar has asked Revenue officers to carry out work under road improvement projects in a time-bound manner to solve traffic congestion in the city.

He was reviewing the process of acquiring land for the construction of six roads at a cost of Rs.20 crore. Additional staff would be deployed to carry out the survey and acquisition procedures, Mr. Mohankumar said at a meeting here on Monday.

Acquisition had been completed for the 2.7-km Kovoor- Vellimadukunnu road and the 600-m Stadium-Puthiyara road. The land acquired had been handed over to the Public Works Department, he said. Land acquisition for the 4.7-km Karaparamba-Kalluthankadavu road would be completed before May 5 and acquisition for the 3.38-km Gandhi Road - Mini Bypass Road by May 28. Acquisition for the 8.44-km Centre for Water Resources Development and Management (CWRDM)-Panathuthazham road would be completed by June 15; and the Mananchira-Vellimadukunnu road by July 10, he said. Additional District Magistrate K.P. Remadevi and Deputy Collector K. Mukundan took part in the meeting.
