District Collector M.C. Mohandas has directed private hospitals to maintain extra vigil in reporting diseases, particularly communicable one. He was inaugurating a seminar conducted for the personnel of private hospitals on prevention of communicable diseases here on Saturday.

The meeting decided to provide a special forum to report the diseases. V. Suresan, District Medical Officer, presided. K. Sakeena, Deputy District Medical Officer, and M.P. George, Mass Media Officer, spoke.

A training session was also conducted for government doctors and para-medical personnel here on Saturday as part of implementing a programme to eliminate lymphatic filariasis.

Dr. Sakeena and Shoukath Ali, joint director of the National Institute of Communicable Diseases, presented the subject. A.P. Parvathi, superintendent of Government General Hospital, Manjeri, Renuka, deputy district medical officer, M.P. George, district mass media officer, and C.K. Suresh Kumar, district malaria officer, spoke.
