KOLLAM: Kottayam District Collector Raju Narayanaswamy clarified on Monday that though his car had been held up for 20 minutes at the Kollam High School junction by two traffic constables on April 26, he had not lodged any written complaint in this connection with the Director-General of Police (DGP). The clarification came in the wake of a report `Collector's complaint kicks up a row' that appeared in these columns on Monday.

The Collector said he had only brought the development to the attention of the DGP on the telephone and the DGP had on his own ordered the inquiry. Mr. Narayanaswamy said he had not mentioned to the DGP that the two constables failed to salute him. He denied using abusive language against Kollam Deputy Superintendent of Police T. Reghunathan Nair for not taking action against the two constables.
