The 50th sales outlet of the Kerala State Cooperative Coir Marketing Federation (Coirfed), set up at Panur as part of the Coir Reach programme, will be inaugurated by Agricultural Minister K.P. Mohanan on January 12.

Coirfed, in a press release here on Friday, said the Coirfed showroom was being opened at Panur in collaboration with the Kerala State Housing Cooperative Federation (Housefed) and the Panur Cooperative Building Society. The press release said the Coirfed could open nearly 50 showrooms over the past 10 months.

The release said there was a 20 per cent increase in the sale of coir in the domestic market this financial year and the sale of coir products doubled during the period. The Coirfed and the Housefed had agreed to open 30 more outlets for coir products. Coirfed chairman S.L. Sajikumar would inaugurate the first sale. Housefed chairman M. Ibrahimkutty would preside.
