KOZHIKODE: To ease the severe shortage of coins as reported by businessmen from in and around the city, the Malabar Chamber of Commerce (MCC) would organise its second ‘coin festival’ in Kozhikode on July 29.

The programme which would enable businessmen to exchange currency notes for coins would be held at the Chamber Hall from 9.30 p.m. Union Bank of India and Federal Bank are supporting this programme.

Coins could be exchanged for currency notes up to a maximum amount of Rs. 2,500 at a time. Those interested in making use of this facility have to register with the Malabar Chamber of Commerce before 5 p.m. on July 28.

Mr. Manoharan Pillai, a senior official of Reserve Bank of India, would explain ways of detecting counterfeit notes with the help of ultra-violent lamps.

Deputy General Manager-Federal Bank C.P. Mohandas, and Assistant General Manager of Union bank Jayamohan Nair would inaugurate the programme .
