As many as 37 Assistant Commandants of the Coast Guard including six women officers competed their law and operations course at a passing our parade held at the Coast Guard District Headquarters in Fort Kochi here on Friday.

Inspector General Satya Prakash Sharma, Regional Commander of Coast Guard’s Eastern Region, reviewed the parade, said a defence communiqué. Assistant Commandant Rahul Lodhi was awarded the ‘sword of honour’ for being first in the order of merit. Mr. Sharma said that maritime security scenario continued to be uncertain and fluid and asked the officers to be prepared for a variety of roles. .

The law and operations course, conducted twice a year at the Coast Guard Training Centre here for 12 weeks, comprises ocean management and pollution response, search and rescue, international maritime law, civil law, fisheries and other subjects.
