KOCHI: A coach of the Ernakulam-Guruvayur passenger train derailed as it was being taken from the railway marshalling yard to the Ernakulam Junction railway station on Monday evening.

Two porters who were engaged in downloading materials from the parcel wagon of a train parked in the parallel track were injured.

They have been admitted to hospital.

There were no passengers in the train.

Railway sources said that an inquiry has been ordered into the derailment that took place at 6.40 p.m. Preliminary reports suggest that the derailment occurred due to technical and human error.

The train began service as scheduled from the station at 8.15 pm, without the derailed coach and two other coaches.
