Panel to oversee implementation of new rules

Taluk Supply Office to open special counters

KOZHIKODE: As part of a drive to make the Civil Station more people-friendly, District Collector P.B. Salim announced here on Thursday that the Collectorate would be declared plastic-free zone from April 1, unnecessary files piling up at offices would be disposed of and signboards with the name and designation of officers would be placed on their tables.

Several decisions towards this end were taken on Thursday at a meeting of heads of departments and service organisations convened by Dr. Salim at the Kozhikode Civil Station.

Boards listing out the services offered by each office, documents required for each service and the time required to fulfil the service request would be placed outside every office. Civil Station employees would henceforth wear photo-identity cards. Hygiene will be maintained at bathrooms in the complex, he said.

The offices will be graded on the basis of cleanliness and promptness of service provided by the officers. Volunteers from the Pre-Recruitment Training Centre will provide round the clock security at the Collectorate compound. Service organisations will be given a separate enclosure to stick posters.

A directory listing all the Civil Station offices will be published by May. Shifting of old vehicles from the compound to another location and the proposal for a biogas plant for the complex would also be considered, the Collector said.

A monitoring committee comprising the District Collector as chairman, Additional District Magistrate as convener and heads of departments and service organisations as members was constituted to oversee and implement the decisions taken in the meeting.

Special counters

Three special counters of the Taluk Supply Office will function on Wednesdays in front of Apna Bazaar in the Civil Station complex. This is to avoid the disturbance caused to nearby courts and offices functioning near the Supply Office due to the crowds that assemble outside the office.

The first counter will offer application forms for new ration cards, the second counter will accept applications for reduction certificates, surrender certificates, non-inclusion certificates and non-renewal certificates.
