A civil police officer, attached to the Kuttippuram police station, was suspended on Tuesday on charges of having close association with the illegal sand-mining lobby.

District Superintendent of Police K. Sethuraman suspended Abdul Razak after an internal inquiry found that he was working for the sand-mining lobby.

Mr. Razak was caught by a police team on Monday from a lorry used for illegal sand-mining from Tirunavaya.
