MALAPPURAM: The district will host a State general council meeting of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

M.K. Pandhe, president of the CITU, will inaugurate the general council meeting at the Municipal Town Hall, Tirur.

K.N. Ravindranath, CITU State president, will hoist the flag on Thursday morning. M.M. Lawrence, CITU general secretary, will present a report.

The council will hold discussions on the report on Thursday and Friday.

As many as 471 council members of various trade unions affiliated to the CITU will attend the deliberations.

Open to public

The organisers said here on Tuesday that workers and the general public would be allowed to attend the inaugural session.

Minister for Local Self-government Paloli Mohammed Kutty; Communist Party of India (Marxist) State committee member K. Saidalikutty; CPI(M) district secretary K. Ummer; State Women’s Commission member P.K. Sainaba; T.K. Hamza, MP; Manjalamkuzhi Ali, MLA; K.T. Jaleel, MLA; and P.P. Abdullakutty, MLA, will attend the meeting.
