KOTTAYAM: The CITU district conference will start at Ettumanur on Tuesday, district secretary K.P. Sugunan has said. The conference will formally get underway with the hoisting of the flag on Tuesday evening. This will be followed by a cultural meet, which will be inaugurated by Kadammanitta Ramakrishnan.

According Mr. Sugunan, during the past three years the CITU had registered a healthy growth with the membership going up from 29,000 to 35,500. The district conference would have 318 delegates representing the members in addition to 21 observers. Issues including unnecessary strikes, and increasing incidence of child labour would be discussed.
