The first-ever National Children’s Theatre Festival of Kerala has begun. The five-day event got underway here on Saturday with National Award-winning child artist Master Minon lighting the traditional lamp in the presence of Master Chetanlal, Master Akash and Miss Parvathy, child artists from the National Award-winning film ‘Black Forest’.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that it was in tune with the spirit of the event that the proceedings of the inaugural function had senior leaders of the State Cabinet and stalwarts of the cultural field led by child artists. He pointed out that no attempts must be spared in bringing the talents of children to the forefront. He also extended the support of the State government to all such endeavours of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. Mr. Chandy presented the S.L. Puram Sadanandan Award to veteran theatre artist T.K. John. Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan presided.
