Children’s safety and security will remain the focus for this year’s parliament meeting of the Balasabha, scheduled to be held at the Corporation buildings in the second week of August. Security issues including protecting the children against abuse by family members and friends will be discussed at the meeting. Selected representatives in the age group of 0-18 from the 100 wards in the Corporation will meet for the parliamentary session. (Balasabha, a project of Kudumbasree, enables children to voice their needs at the level of the local bodies). On Sunday, representatives organised a preliminary meeting at the Corporation to discuss the issues that should be raised for the parliament meeting. Thiruvananthapuram Mayor K.Chandrika inaugurated the meeting. Chief Guest K. Muraleedharan, MLA, said that the children had to utilise the opportunities given to them to succeed in life.
