Vidyarambhom ceremony at various places in Pathanamthitta
The annual Vijayadasami festival, marking the triumph of good over evil, was celebrated in different parts of the district on Monday. Hundreds of children were initiated into the world of letters at the ceremonial Vidyarambhom held as part of the celebrations at various temples, cultural centres, schools, and certain churches in the district.

Syndicate member, led the Vidyarambhom ceremony at the Thrikkapaleeswara temple at Kannassapparambu at Niranom, near Thiruvalla.
Akeeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri, Kerala Yogakshema Sabha president, led the event at the Moorthitta Maha Ganapathi temple at Aranmula.
At the Kannakode St. Thomas Orthodox church, near Adoor, Zacharias Mar Aprem, Metropolitan of the Adoor-Kadambanad diocese, led the ceremony.
Poet Ezhacherry Ramachandran; Fr. Mathew Daniel, former principal of Kozhenchery St. Thomas College; and K. Sasikumar, Sree Buddha Educational Society chairman; led the events at Muloor Memorial at Elavumthitta, near Aranmula.
A good number of children were initiated into the world of dance, music, and other art forms at the Chilanka Academy for Dance and Music run by the veteran Kathakali artiste Mohan and his wife, Kalamandalam Sreedevi Mohan, at Aranmula.
The ceremony was also held at Kadammanitta Ramakrishnan Smriti Mandapam at Kadammanitta; Chakkulathukavu Bhagavathy Temple at Neerettupuraml; Navaratri Mantapam at Pandalam; Thiruvalla Sree Ramakrishna Ashram; Thiruvalla Sreevallabha Temple; Malayalappuzha Bhagavathy Temple; Orippurathu Bhagavathy Temple at Thatta, near Adoor; Kallooppara Bhagavathy Temple; Kaviyur Mahadeva Temple; Thottamonkavu Devi Temple, near Ranni; Saraswati Kalakshetra at Omalloor; and Amrita Vidyalayam at Thukalasserry.
