THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Seven children from the State have bagged prizes at the national-level painting competition for children organised by the Indian Council for Child Welfare in 2007.

Dibin V. Sivadas of Naval Boys Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kochi, won the third position in the age group of 9-12 years (white group), while Sthana T.V., (Blue group), of Azheekode Government High School, Kannur, won the third place in the age group of 13 to 16 years. P.V. Anusree, a student of C.I.C. Girls High School, also belonging to the same group won the consolation prize.

In the competition for special children (5-10 years) Liya M. George of Alappuzha, S.D.V.J.B.S representing yellow group won the second place, while the consolation prize in the group went to Benil George of Karuna Speech and Hearing School for the Deaf, Kozhikkode.

In the competition for special children with multiple disabilities (10-18 years) Varun M. Namboodiri from Eranakulam, representing the red group won the first place School.

The consolation prize in this section went to Muhassil M.U. of Karuna Speech and Hearing School for the Deaf, Kozhikkode.

The winners were selected by a panel comprising Sudhakar Sharma of Lalithkala Akademi, Delhi, Sathyender Kumar Gupta of National Gallery of Modern Art and Sathyanaren Karan of National Balabhavan.

The prizes for the winners will be given away at a function to be held in New Delhi.
