Constructed at a cost of Rs.460 crores
KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will be attending a slew of programmes in the city and elsewhere in the district on Monday.
The Chief Minister will inaugurate the Vengalam rail overbridge on National Highway 17 at 3 p.m. Public Works Minister P.J. Joseph will preside over.
Industries Minister Elamaram Karim, Forest Minister Benoy Viswom, P. Sathidevi, MP, MLAs P. Viswan and M.K. Premnath, Collector Rachna Shah, Southern Railway deputy chief engineer V. Natarajan and the former Ministers M.K. Muneer and P. Sankaran will attend the function.
The rail overbridge constructed by the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation has a length of 443 metres and was constructed at a cost of Rs.460 crores. There are 14 spans including three spans of a total of 62.2 metres over the rail.
The Chief Minister will be accorded a reception by the district panchayat and the Corporation. The district panchayat will accord the reception at the district panchayat conference hall at 12 noon.
Reception will be accorded to Ministers and MLAs from the district on the occasion.
The Corporation will accord a reception to the Chief Minister at the Council Hall at 4.30 p.m.
The Chief Minister will also address a public meeting organised in connection with the State conference of the Kerala Gazetted Officers Association (KGOA) at Muthalakulam Maidan at 6 p.m. on Monday.
