Shree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) general secretary Vellappally Natesan said here on Friday that Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala did not have the maturity to become the Chief Minister of the State.

Speaking to media persons here, Mr. Natesan said Mr. Chennithala had been insincere in disowning the Nair Service Society (NSS) general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair’s statements relating to his induction into the Oommen Chandy cabinet. He has been dishonest to the NSS leadership that had supported him for the Deputy Chief Minister’s post.

Mr. Natesan was in the city in connection with the Ezhava-Thiyya Malabar convention to be held on Kozhikode beach by the SNDP Yogam on Saturday. He said the public would not believe the statement of Mr. Chennithala that he was uninterested in becoming a Minister as he had contested the Assembly elections. This was when he was holding the post of KPCC president.

Mr. Vellappally said the organisation had no ulterior motives behind organising the Ezhava-Thiyya Malabar convention in Kozhikode. The objective of the SNDP was to strengthen its activities in Malabar. Social justice could be achieved only if the community had power. The backward communities would talk about caste as long as caste-based reservation existed in the State, he said.
