The Sathguru Sangeetha Sabha here will organise a Chembai Sangeethotsavam at Padmasree Kalyana Mandapam, Tali, from November 23 to 25.

Mayor A.K. Premajam will inaugurate the music festival at 5.30 p.m. on November 23. The inaugural function will be followed by a Carnatic vocal concert by Sreevalsan J. Menon. He will be supported by Thiruvizha Viju S. Anand on the violin, Cochin Balakrishna Kamath on the mridangam, and Kottayam Unnikrishnan on the ghatom.

The programmes on November 24 will begin with a talk on the contributions of the trinity of Carnatic music at 5.45 p.m., followed by a Carnatic vocal concert by Ramakrishnan Moorthy. He will be supported by Edappally Ajith Kumar on the violin, K.M.S. Mani on the mridangam, and S.V.S.N. Vishwanathan on the ghatom.

The Hyderabad sisters Lalitha and Haripriya will deliver a talk on Carnatic music at 5.45 on November 25. Later, they will present a concert. They will be supported by Trivandrum Sampath on the violin, N. Hari on the mridangam, and Kovai Suresh on the ghatom.

The Sathguru Sangeetha Sabha, which has a legacy of 45 years, has organised 800 classical music and dance programmes so far. It is known to have brought to Kozhikode stalwarts of classical music such as M.S. Subbulakshmi, D.K. Pattamal, Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, and Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer for the first time. The 46th annual celebration of the Sabha is being held under the name Chembai Sangeethotsavam this year. Entry is free for all.
