Eminent Carnatic musician Thrissur V. Ramachandran has been selected for the Guruvayoorappan Chembai Puraskaram 2012, instituted by the Guruvayur Devaswom. The award carries a purse of Rs.50,001, a citation and a gold locket. A committee comprising Devaswom Managing Committee member G. Madhusoodanan Pillai, musicians Pala. C. K. Ramachandran, Kumara Kerala Varma, violinist T.H. Subrahmanyam and Mrudangam expert Kuzhalmandham G. Ramakrishnan decided the winner. Award will be presented at the inaugural ceremony of Chembai Music Festival on November 9, according to a press release from Guruvayur Devaswom.
