Chamber submits memorandum listing development needs

Advani assures chamber of action

KOZHIKODE: Representatives of Malabar Chamber of Commerce led by its president P.V. Gangadharan has sought the help of Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani for speeding up development of north Kerala.

A memorandum listing the urgent development needs of the region was presented to Mr. Advani when he was here on Tuesday in the course of his ‘Vijaysankalpa yatra’.

BJP State president P.K. Krishnadas and State BJP vice-president L. Radhakrishnan were with Mr. Advani when the delegation of Malabar Chamber of Commerce gave him the memorandum. Mr. Advani assured the delegation that he would seriously take up the demands in the memorandum. Mr. Advani’s help was also sought for more facilities at Calicut airport, setting up a modern port at Beypore, electrification of Shoranur-Mangalore rail line, development of Kozhikode railway station, early setting up of coach factory at Palakkad and the promised wagon factory at Alappuzha, an IIT at Palakkad, improvement of tourism in northern districts and development of inland waterways. C.A.C. Mohan, secretary, and P.M. Mohammed Koya, treasurer of the chamber, were also present.
