Thiruvananthapuram: The city police have arrested four members of a gang involved in attempts to snatch gold chains of women who arrived at Attukal Bhagavathy Temple for the Pongala festival.

The police identified them as Sherafudeen, 24; Asafar, 27; Asim, 24; and Shamir 22, all of Muttathara.

The arrests were made by a team led by Circle Inspector, Fort, K.S. Gopakumar and Sub-Inspector, Fort, Suresh V. Nair

Baggage theft: one held

The Fort police have arrested the driver of a luxury bus in connection with the theft of baggage of a passenger who travelled from Coimbatore to the capital city on February 25. The driver of the bus, Subramanyam, a native of Coimbatore, was arrested in connection with the theft of baggage and laptop of a Life Insurance Corporation official based in Chennai, said the police. Subramanyam was produced before the court and remanded.
