A 31-year-old NRI, on his way home from the Thiruvananthapuram airport after alighting from an early morning flight from Muscat on Sunday, was relieved of his luggage and his brother’s car.

Shafeeq, a resident of Karakulam, was on his way home at 4 a.m. with his nephew when the car stalled due to an overheated engine near Kowdiar. Even as the two tried to repair the car, a youth approached them and offered help introducing himself as a car mechanic.

According to the Museum police, the youngster repaired the car in no time and got into it under the pretext of starting the engine.

He then sped away with the car, which had Shafeeq’s luggage in it. — Staff Reporter
