The District Cancer Centre (DCC) attached to the District Hospital at Kozhencherry would be elevated to the status of a cancer hospital, K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA, has said.

The MLA said the decision in this regard was taken at the DCC governing body meeting held on Thursday. The meeting also decided to post an oncologist at the cancer centre.

Mr. Nair said 75 cancer patients would be given one-time financial aid of Rs.10,000 each.

Saji Chacko, district panchayat president; K.G. Sasidharan Pillai, DCC director; and Sandhya, medical superintendent at the District Hospital, also spoke.
