KALPETTA: The Kerala Vana Vasi Kendram district committee has urged the government to erect a monument for Thalakkal Chandu, the commander-in-chief of Kurichiya soldiers of Pazhassiraja. A meeting at Kaniyampetta near here on Tuesday pointed out that the banyan tree under which Thalakkal Chandu was killed and nearby areas were facing encroachment. Palliyara Raman, State president, Vanavasi Vikas Kendra, presided.
