KOTTAYAM: The Bishops’ conference held as part of the ‘Sapthathy’ celebrations of the Kerala Council of Churches (KCC), the umbrella organisation of 13 Christian congregations and nearly 20 ecumenical organisations, has called for caution against the increasing incidence of social marginalisation in the country as a result of globalisation policies.

In a pastoral letter issued after the conference, the Bishops called for ensuring inclusive growth through sustainable development policies and a focused attention to the afflicted.

The theme of the conference was ‘New Trends in Theology, Ecclesiology and Spirituality’.

Philipose Mar Chrysostom, Mar Thoma Senior Metroplitan, inaugurated the conference. Bishop Abraham Mar Paulos, president, KCC, chaired the inaugural session.
