Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has emphasised the need for collective efforts from all sections of society to resolve the sanitation issues in the State.

The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating the district-level valedictory of the Social Solidarity fortnight observance here on Saturday.

Mr. Chandy exhorted the public to uphold the ideals of Gandhiji at a time when the nation continued to progress at a rapid pace.

Delivering the presidential address, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that efforts that were meant to bring the marginalised sections to the mainstream should be strengthened.

The Minister also stressed the need for inculcating the values of peace and knowledge among the younger generations.

District panchayat president Radha V. Nair delivered the keynote address.

District panchayat member N.J. Prasad, Pallom block panchayat president Lathakumari Salimon, and vice-president Johnny Joseph spoke.
