A three-day butterfly survey, Papilio-2013, organised by the Forest and Wildlife Department in association with Ferns Mananthavady, an environmental organisation, and the Travancore Natural History Society will be held at seven sites under the North Wayanad forest division from Friday.

Areas to be covered

A. Shanavas, Mananthavady forest divisional officer, will inaugurate the programme at the forest divisional office conference hall at 2.30 p.m.

The survey will be held at Banasura Hills and Kolipad under the Mananthavady forest range; Kunhome and Periya under the Periya forest Range; and Kambamala, Makkimala, and Thirunelly under the Begur forest range of the North Wayanad forest division.

Participants

Close to 50 people will take part in the survey, A.T. Sudheesh, president, Ferns, said in a release here.

Experts from the forestry college, Thrissur, will participate in the survey, he added.
