KANNUR: Private bus workers’ unions here have abandoned flash strike as a mode of agitation.

This was announced by leaders of the trade unions at a press conference here on Tuesday. They said a joint convention of the trade unions had decided to give up the practice of announcing flash strikes to protest against incidents of attacks on bus workers.

The trade unions would disclaim if the workers go for the flash strikes in defiance of their unions, trade union leaders

P.V. Krishnan (CITU), P. Sooryadas (INTUC), Thavam Balakrishnan (AITUC), P. Muraleedharan (Bharatiya Masdoor Sangh) and M.A. Kareeem (Swathantra Thozhilali Union) said.

The practice of calling flash strikes was being exploited by anti-social elements, they added.
