P.U. Chitra who won four gold medals at the recent National School Games was honoured with a telephone and internet connections at her remote house at Mundur.
The BSNL and three of its employees met the expenses for the connection and a VIP number was allotted to her on Saturday.
The house of Chitra had no road access. A new road was laid recently with Rs.10 lakh allotted by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan from his Local Area Development Fund.
While the road was constructed, the BSNL laid a 300 metre cable.
The expenses to put the cable, telephone and the net connection were donated by the BSNL employees A. Ramakrishnan, K. Krishnadas and C.P. Vijayagopal.
She expressed thanks to the BSNL officials for sanctioning the connections.
