B.Sc. interview postponedKOZHIKODE: In view of a hartal called by the United Democratic Front in Kozhikode district on Tuesday in the wake of an alleged custodial death here, the interview for admission to the first year B.Sc. medical biochemistry, medical microbiology, and MLT courses at the Centre for Health Sciences, University of Calicut, scheduled for that day has been postponed to August 16.

Social activist deadKOLLAM: Social activist and founder member of the INTUC in south Travancore, Abu Mohammed, passed away here in the afternoon on Monday. He was 82 and is survived by his wife and eight children. Mohammed and also played a leading role in the Vimochana Samaram.

Church council to go ahead with admissionsKOTTAYAM: The Inter Church Council for Education has decided to move ahead with the admissions and functioning of the professional colleges this year, as per court directives. A meeting of the Council in Changanassery on Monday asked the State Government to expedite steps to ensure smooth functioning of the institutions so that studies of students would not be jeopardised. The meeting, chaired by Archbishop Mar Joseph Powathil also decided to take steps in the long term on issues involved, after detailed discussions with stakeholders. Staff Reporter
