KOZHIKODE: The Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM), led by T.P. Abdullakoya Madhani, has called upon both political fronts in the State to learn from the election results and not align with terrorist and regressive forces.

The State delegate conference of the organisation said the public had done its duty by defeating candidates who were self-declared representatives of Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliar. The election results had proved that the Jamaat-e-Islami that raised demands for a religious State and other organisations with terrorist agenda were insignificant.

It said the new government at the Centre should move forward taking into account the public’s commitment to democracy and secularism that prompted it to vote for the Congress-led government. The conference said the nation-wide response of minority communities to the Congress and its allies showed that they had responded favourably to the benefits and welfare measures declared by the previous government (also led by Congress). However, more attempts to bring the minority communities into the mainstream were necessary.

It welcomed the judicial probe into the police firing at Cheriathura and urged the Home Department to take steps to prevent untoward incidents there and in other places.
