KANNUR: Kannur University Vice-Chancellor P. Chandramohan has said that writers have created important landmarks in the history of mankind.

Releasing a book on the American writer Saul Bellow, authored by S. Josh, Coordinator of the Centre for Virtual Media, on the Thalassery campus of the university, Dr. Chandramohan said the book underlined the humanism of the U.S. author, who had made tremendous contributions to American literature in the second half of the 20th century, marked by conflict between male chauvinism and liberation of women.

Dr. Chandramohan released Dr. Josh's Saul Bellow and Masculinity by presenting a copy to Kerala Sahithya Akademi secretary P.V. Krishnan Nair.

Pro Vice-Chancellor K. Kunhikrishnan presided over the function.

The former Head of the English Department of Calicut University N. Ramachandran Nair introduced the book.

The former Head of the Department of Studies in English of Kannur University C.P. Sivadasan and Head of the Anthropology Department of the university Anantha Bhanu offered felicitation.

University Registrar Abdul Rasheed was present. Dr. Josh proposed a vote of thanks.
