The rural police recovered five powerful homemade bombs hidden in a sack in an uninhabited plot at Narikkatteri in the limits of Nadapuram police station here on Thursday.

The bombs were recovered during a raid carried out by the Nadapuram sub-divisional team and the bomb detection and disposal squad in the morning. The raids had been carried out following the recovery of five swords from the region on Wednesday.

T.K. Rajmohan, Superintendent of Police, Kozhikode Rural, said the raids had been conducted following reports that weapons and explosive could be stockpiled in the area. The newly made bombs were covered in timber powder.
