MALAPPURAM: A bomb threat at the Calicut International Airport at Karipur on Wednesday evening turned out to be a hoax. However, flight operations at the airport were suspended for nearly an hour.

The police control room at Kozhikode received a call at 5.45 p.m. from an unidentified person saying there was a bomb at the airport. Soon after the message was passed on to the airport authorities, the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) of the airport convened a meeting and a thorough search was launched after suspending all operations.

Passengers and employees were evacuated from airside and terminals. The search continued for an hour.

Operations resumed by 7.15 p.m.
