A blue-footed booby from the Galapagos Islands that got separated from its migratory flock and fell at Karunagapally on Thursday continues to be in a critical state at the District Veterinary Centre here.

The seabird has been under intensive medical care provided by the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). B. Aravind, technical expert of the society, said here on Saturday that the bird had slipped into a coma.

The bird had a serious respiratory infection. It was not physically injured in the fall.

However, its chances of survival appeared grim, Dr. Aravind said here.
