ALAPPUZHA: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive committee member C.K. Padmanabhan has accused Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan of trying to sabotage investigations into terrorist acts by fundamentalist outfits in the State in order to keep the CPI(M)’s minority votes intact.

Inaugurating the Alappuzha district version of the State-wide agitation conducted by the BJP in front of the district collectorate here on Tuesday, Mr. Padmanabhan said the BJP was not targeting any particular religion in the name of terrorism. However, terrorists were misusing religion to carry out anti-national activities.

Accusing the National Development Front (NDF) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of sending recruits from Kerala to Kashmir to fight against Indian armed forces, the former State chief of BJP said the Congress and the CPI(M) had ignored the BJP’s earlier warnings and were in fact protecting and supporting terrorists.

Earlier, the BJP district unit conducted a march towards the collectorate. Though there was mild tension when the activists tried to barge into the collectorate, the party leaders and the police brought the situation under control. BJP district president K.S. Rajan too spoke.
