Bhojpuri Dabbangs did a Chulbul Pandey aka Salman Khan on Chennai Rhinos in the inaugural match of the third edition of the Celebrity Cricket League here.

Just as the reigning superstar beat his opponents to pulp in his hugely successful Bollywood flick Dabangg, Bhojpuri Dabbangs, the debutants in the CCL, simply blew away the Rhinos, thanks to a beefcake by the name Aditya Ohja.

Ojha, adjudged the man of the match, sent the Chennai hunks led by Vishal on a leather hunt during his 38-ball 86 blitzkrieg, taking his side to a five-wicket victory. . He was ably assisted by Uday Tiwari, who scored a quick fire 48. The duo ensured that the lackluster bowling and fielding earlier in the day did not cost the side.

For Chennai it was a case of a script gone awry in the last ten overs, up until which they had the match in their control.

When Chennai openers Vikraanth and Abdullah walked in to the middle, after captain Vishal chose to bat after winning the toss, there were enough yellow flags of the Chennai team fluttering in the stand, which was fast getting filled up for the second match featuring the home team Kerala Strikers.

Drawing energy from the crowd support, the openers gave a solid start to the team with Vikraath starting off with a hit to the cover boundary. Since then the openers maintained a steady pace with boundaries and sixes interspersed with sharp singles to keep the team members and supporters in the dugout and the cheer girls constantly on their feet. Vikraanth was the more aggressive and soon his confidence rubbed off on Abdullah.

When the openers were dismissed, Vishnu and Prithvi took charge and kept up the tempo. The far from acceptable bowling and fielding standards of the Dabbangs also helped the team to a formidable total of 187 for 3.

As the game progressed, spectators increasingly got behind the Bhojpuris sensing a fight back and the debutants paid back in style for the support. They even did a lap of honour thanking the crowd after the match.
