G. Adithya and Anjali Nair of Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, emerged winners in the national debate competition organised by the CBSE as part of observing the National Vigilance Awareness Week.
The winners walked away with a cash award of Rs. 10,000 and a trophy. G. Adithya was also adjudged the best individual speaker, winning a cash award of Rs. 5,000 and a trophy. The final held at New Delhi saw 16 teams from the eight CBSE regions battling it out on the topic ‘In spite of the provisions of checks and balances in the constitution, there is a strong need for the Lokpal bill'. Earlier this month, the team had emerged runner-up in the finals of the competition for the Chennai region which earned them a berth in the national debate finals.
Anand P, and S. Jayakrishnan of the SBOA Public Senior Secondary School, South Chittoor, won the Chinmayananda Ever rolling Trophy 2011 in the inter School Spelling Bee Competition - Spell.com - conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Tripunithura on November 18.
Nikhil Alen and Steve Jacob of Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery, and Arjun S. Shenoy and Unnikrishan P.V of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Tripunithura emerged second and third runners-up. Jayaprabha Pradeep, principal of Gregorian Public School, who was the chief guest, gave away the prizes. Brahmacharini Prarthana Chaithanya presented the ever rolling trophy to the winners. Secretary of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Santha Balakrishnan and principal Usha Mohan were also present.
Devamatha CMI Kindergarten organised Rithu-2011, a joint celebration of Children's and Parent's Day celebrations, on November 18. Children's joy knew no bounds on being entertained by their parents. The parents enchanted the audience with their renditions of songs, rocking dance performances, comical skits and magic show. ‘Snehavirunnu,” a feast was also organised to inculcate the value of togetherness. The celebrations had the theme ‘Go Green, Earth Day, Every Day.' Fr. Walter Thellappily CMI, Director of Amala Institute of Medical Sciences; Stanly Thomas, ACMI president and Fr. Shaju Edamana CMI, were present.
