The government would consider giving operational autonomy to State public sector enterprises that function efficiently, Finance Minister K.M. Mani said here on Thursday.
Accepting the dividends from seven State PSUs, Mr. Mani said the government would also consider giving special recognition to State PSUs on the lines of the ‘Navratna' and other recognitions being according to Central PSUs by the Union government.
He congratulated the managements of the State PSUs, which had together handed over Rs.25.39 crore as dividend. Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said the government was devising ways to improve the efficiency and transparency of the State PSUs.
The management of Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML) handed over Rs.15.46 crore, Malabar Cements Limited Rs.5.20 crore, Transformers and Electricals Kerala Limited Rs.1.87 crore, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Limited Rs.1.75 crore, Steel and Industrial Forgings Limited Rs.47.77 lakh, Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Rs.42 lakh, and Kerala Clays and Ceramics Products Limited Rs.19.77 lakh to the Finance Minister.
