B.Ed. Centre takes up farming

The students and teachers of the B.Ed. Centre of Calicut University, at Koduvayur near here, started planting seedlings for the second crop of paddy on Thursday on the Manimarkulam field.

As part of their curriculum, the students plan to have a firsthand experience of farming.

A committee has been formed to monitor their activities.

The initiative was inaugurated by Koduvayur grama panchayat president Lilly Sachidanandan.

College Principal V. Suresh presided over the inaugural function.

According to the Principal, the B.Ed. Centre had plans to take up organic paddy cultivation in a big way.
